A film biopic about the famous composer with Guiseppe Becce in the title roll. Becce was initially cast because he looked so much like Wagner. When it turned out he was also a composer, he got the task to also compose the film score. Wagner’s music was by then still under copyright. What Becce skillfully did, was adapting Wagner’s music in such a way, that it was still recognisable, but at the same time different music, to get around paying royalties.
